The first Module of UN-China-South Asian and Southeast Asian Countries Triangular Cooperation on Trade and Investment Facilitation Empowerment was launched in Beijing

The Module I of " UN-China-South Asian and Southeast Asian Countries Triangular Cooperation on Trade and Investment Facilitation Empowerment", co-hosted by the UNIDO ITPO Beijing Project and the Embassy of Sri Lankan in China, was launched online and offline on June 23 in Beijing. Mr. Palitha T. B. Kohona, the Sri Lanka Ambassador in China, Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee, UN Resident Coordinator in China, Ms.Luo Xiaomei, Deputy Director-General of Department of Asian Affairs of MOFCOM, and Mr. Zhang Yi, Deputy Director-General of CICETE of MOFCOM, ect. delivered welcome remarks.




DDG Zhang Yi pointed out in his speech that, in the world today, global issues such as food security and climate change are intensifying. In this regard, we must adhere to the eternal theme of development. We need to discard the cold war mentality, zero-sum-game concept and unilateralism, and jointly create a more open, inclusive, objective, cooperative and win-win international environment, so as to further enhance the common understanding of solidarity and cooperation and joint efforts and action of accelerated development. In particular, the multilateral platform of UN shall play an active and important role to promote pragmatic cooperation and global development, and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. It is highly complementary and mutually beneficial to promote agricultural economic and trade cooperation between China and Sri Lanka. I hope that through this training, participants from the two countries could enhance mutual understanding and further cooperation, so as to effectively promote agricultural economic and trade cooperation between China and Sri Lanka, and contribute to global food security and sustainable agricultural development.




Focused on "Cross-border Trade of Agricultural Products and Chinese Standards", Chinese policies and standards related to agricultural trade was introduced during this training module for more than 70 representatives from government Ministries and institutes on commerce, agricultural and trade enterprises and Chambers from Sri Lanka, and the Embassy of Sri Lankan in China.
