The 3rd Symposium on Asia-Africa Drought Adaptation Held in Urumqi
14-21 August 2013, Urumqi－The 3rd Symposium on Asia-Africa Drought Adaptation was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang on August 14-21, 2013, hosted by CICETE, UNDP Dryland Development Center and UNDP China Office and organized by Xinjiang Ecological and Geographic Research Institute of China Academy of Scicence.
CICETE Deputy Director General Mr. Xiao Fenghuai attended the symposium, delivered opening remarks and keynote speech on China’s foreign aid to Africa and south-south cooperation.
The symposium was participated by over 40 officials and experts from China’s Ministry of Water Resources, Xinjiang Academy of Science, Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia and other African nations, strengthening mutual understanding on effective management and technologies towards drought disaster between China and Africa, and promoting tripartite cooperation in the field of drought adaptation among China, Africa and UNDP .
