The Inaugural Cities Forum of UNMCSR CA Held in Fuzhou

 

 

18 May 2016, Fuzhou — The Inaugural Cities Forum of United Nations Maritime-Continental Silk Road Cities Alliance (UNMCSR CA), which was co-sponsored by United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and Maritime-Continental Silk Road Cities Alliance (MCSRCA), was formally held in Fuzhou on May 18th, 2016. CICETE Director General Yan Dong attended the Forum and delivered an opening remark. The representatives from UNOSSC, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) attended the Forum and organized the sub forums—“Urbanization of Innovative and Sustainable Development”, “Cooperation between the Green Industrial Parks of the UNIDO” and “Collaborative Approaches and Partnerships for the Development of Silk Road Tourism” respectively.

 

The Forum is a significant activity under the MCSRCA projects. More than 500 participants from 36 countries along the Silk Road attended the Forum. And during the Forum, Fangchenggang and Yantai of China, and Dunkerque of France, Colombo of Sri Lanka, Accra of Ghana, Tema of Ghana, Mombasa of Kenya, Phuket of Thailand, Gorno- Badakhshansky of Tajikistan, Isfahan of Iran, and Southern Governorate of Bahrain formally announced their joining into the MCSRCA.
