CICETE Deputy Director-General Meets with UNOSSC Director and Envoy of the Secretary-General on South-South Cooperation
On October 22nd, CICETE Deputy Director-General Zhang Yi met with Mr. Jorge Chediek, UNOSSC Director and Envoy of the Secretary-General on South-South Cooperation and Ms. Xiaojun Grace Wang, UNOSSC Deputy Director.
Mr. Chediek commended CICETE for its achievements in supporting the two flagship South-South Cooperation initiatives: Global SSDC Project and Silk Road Cities Project and appreciated CICETE’s continuous efforts on supporting the UN system-wide South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
Mr. Zhang Yi appreciated the re-endorsement from the global community to South-South and Triangular Cooperation after the BAPA+40 Conference earlier this year. The two flagship South-South Cooperation projects under CICETE’s management are now advancing smoothly. Moreover, he mentioned that CICETE would further strengthen the South-South and Triangular Cooperation with UN specialized agencies on poverty alleviation and sustainable agricultural development.
Both sides agreed to further enhance the working relations and cooperation ties, thus making concrete contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and building of a community of shared future for mankind. Staffs from Division II for UN Programmes of CICETE were also present at the meeting.
