CICETE held a series of lectures on sustainable development
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development covers 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is committed to eradicating poverty and promoting environmental protection and human development through concerted action. In recent years, CICETE has cooperated with the United Nations Development Program and other UN agencies in the areas of poverty reduction, clean water, clean energy and gender equality around the 2030 Agenda, contributing to the realization of sustainable development. A series of lectures on sustainable development were held by CICETE to promote the sharing of knowledge in related fields, to help CICETE staff better understand the close relationship among sustainable development, China's reform and development and CICETE's mission.
Zhang Yalong, Executive President of Shenzhen Institute of Sustainable Development, gave a lecture on July 20 on the theme of "Sustainable Development Goals in Urban Practices", sharing a thought-provoking case study on how Shenzhen City has been advancing in the Sustainable Development Goals through the joint efforts of government, enterprises, NGOs and communities.
Li Nan, Director of UNOPS Sustainable Investments in Infrastructure and Innovation, delivered a lecture on "Sustainable Development Investment and Financing" on August 18, introducing the concept of impact investment and the measurement system, presenting global development trends and domestic status. Staff of CICETE and colleagues from partner agencies attended the online lecture.
CICETE Deputy Director-General Zhang Yi presided over the two lectures. He pointed out that the SDGs are dedicated to addressing a range of economic, social and environmental issues and are highly compatible with China's high-quality development pattern. As a significant part of its portfolio, CICETE has been working with UN partners to design and carry out sustainable development projects in Yunnan Province, Henan Province, Jilin Province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Jiangsu, etc., popularizing advanced concepts and technologies to facilitate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in China. In the future, CICETE will continue to play an active role in promoting the localization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development together with UNDP and other partners, as well as the related international cooperation and South-South cooperation.
